RRB ALP Recruitment 2026 Notification Out for 11,127 Posts, Apply Online

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released the official notification for the recruitment of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) posts under Centralised Employment Notice CEN No. 01/2026. A total of 11,127 vacancies have been announced across 21 RRBs and 17 Railway Zones. The application window is open at rrbapply.gov.in from May 15, 2026.

This is one of the biggest ALP recruitment batches announced in recent years. The post of Assistant Loco Pilot is a Pay Level-2 position in Indian Railways, making it a great opportunity for candidates who have passed Class 10 with an ITI certificate or hold a Diploma or Engineering Degree in a relevant technical trade.

Candidates can submit the online application form from May 15, 2026, to June 14, 2026 (11:59 PM). One important rule to remember is that you can apply to only one RRB. CBT-1 (First Stage: Screening Test)

Note: Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer. CBT-1 is a screening test only: marks are NOT counted in final merit.

CBT-2 (Second Stage)

Note: Negative marking of 1/3 mark per wrong answer in both parts. Minimum 35% marks required in Part B to qualify (all categories). Only Part A marks count for shortlisting to CBAT.

RRB ALP 2026 Selection Process

The selection for RRB ALP 2026 is done in five stages. Each stage is mandatory. You must qualify for each stage to move to the next one.

• CBT-1: First Stage screening test. 75 questions, 60 minutes. Used only for shortlisting candidates for CBT-2.
• CBT-2: Second Stage. Part A is the merit test (100 questions). Part B is a qualifying trade test (75 questions, minimum 35% needed).
• CBAT: Computer-Based Aptitude Test. Candidates equal to 8 times the vacancies are shortlisted. Minimum T-score of 42 per battery.
• Document Verification: Original certificates verified at the RRB office.
• Medical Examination: Railway Medical Standard A-1. Strict vision requirements. No spectacles or LASIK surgery allowed.

How to Apply for RRB ALP Exam 2026

Applications must be submitted online only at rrbapply.gov.in. No offline or postal applications will be accepted. Follow the steps below carefully.

1. Go to the official website: rrbapply.gov.in
2. Click on “New Registration” and create your account using your mobile number and email ID
3. Verify your identity using Aadhaar or DigiLocker. This is strongly recommended for faster processing at all stages
4. Fill in your personal details, educational qualifications, and technical qualification details carefully
5. A live photograph will be captured during the application. Do not upload a pre-existing photo
6. Upload your signature in JPG/JPEG format (30–49 KB, running handwriting only, no block or capital letters)
7. Choose your preferred RRB and provide your Railway Zone preference order
8. Pay the application fee online using Net Banking, UPI, or Debit/Credit Card
9. Submit the form and note down your Registration Number for all future reference

Documents Required for RRB ALP 2026

Keep the following documents ready before starting your application. Original documents will be required at the Document Verification stage.

• Class 10 (Matriculation / SSLC) certificate and marksheet
• ITI certificate from NCVT/SCVT in the relevant trade or Diploma/Degree certificate in Engineering
• Date of birth proof (as per Class 10 certificate only)
• Aadhaar card (mandatory for identity verification and fee refund)
• Caste certificate SC/ST (Annexure I), OBC-NCL (Annexure II), EWS (Annexure III) as applicable
• Ex-Serviceman discharge certificate (Annexure VIIA/VIIB as applicable)
• Income certificate for EBC candidates (Annexure IV) if claiming fee concession
• Minority community declaration (Annexure V) if claiming fee waiver
• Self-declaration regarding no LASIK surgery (Annexure VI)
• Valid photo ID: Aadhaar, Voter ID, PAN Card, Passport, or Driving Licence
• Recent passport-sized photographs
• Active personal mobile number and email ID

RRB ALP 2026 Exam Centres

CBT-1, CBT-2, and CBAT will be held at exam centres across India. Centre allocation is done by the RRB and depends on technical and logistical factors. Candidates may be required to travel to other cities or states. No request for change of exam centre, date, or shift will be entertained under any circumstances.

Note: Exam city intimation will be given approximately 10 days before the exam date on official RRB websites.

Important Instructions for RRB ALP 2026

• Apply to only ONE RRB: Multiple applications will lead to rejection of all applications and permanent debarment from future RRB and RRC exams
• Verify your identity using Aadhaar or DigiLocker during account creation. Candidates using alternate photo IDs will face stricter scrutiny at every stage
• Details filled in the “Create an Account” form, including mobile number, email ID, and chosen RRB, cannot be changed at any stage after submission
• Candidates with LASIK or any other corrective eye surgery are NOT eligible for the post of ALP
• Do not carry any electronic devices, mobile phones, watches, calculators, or any banned items to the exam centre. Violation will lead to disqualification and legal action
• The live photograph captured during the application must match your appearance throughout the entire recruitment process
• Keep your Aadhaar-linked bank account active for the entire recruitment period fee refund will be credited only to this account
• Candidates currently serving in Government departments must produce an NOC from their employer at the time of Document Verification
• Fee refund is applicable only for candidates who actually appear in CBT-1; rejected or absent candidates will not get a refund
• All certificates submitted must be in English or Hindi. Only self-attested, translated copies must be submitted for certificates in other languages
